 Info: Tips/Hints!

As you have seen... the server gives people every 5 minutes a hint!

Atm I've got the next hints:
  • Use your left mouse button (when you have selected a melee weapon) for mining, attacking, repairing and building. You can NOT repair siege. Only chaplains and shamans can heal siege units.
  • Use your right mouse button to block enemy attacks as a Human or leap forward as Beast.
  • As a Human you can block firewards (Beast mines): don't walk over them but move just close enough so they explode and block.
  • As Beast you can use Carnivorous against NPCs (Monkits, Oshores etc.) to heal. Carn also lets you take on the bigger NPCs even with a Scavenger.
  • To instantly quit Savage without using the mouse (Yay commandlinepower!) type '/quit' (don't type it now!!!), '/crash' does the same.
  • Build or repair buildings with Scavengers/Nomands instead of Predators/Legionaires if possible because every 'hit' is one repairpoint and the Level 1 Units have more hits per second than Level 2 or 3 Units, even if these hits do less damage their 'repairvalue' is equal.
  • If you are passing a damaged building repair it a bit while you walk past (you don't have to stop), same for Redstone or Goldmines, mine two or three bits while you walk past.
  • Hit a Spawflag with your melee weapon to claim or reclaim it.
  • Learn to command on empty or small servers and ask the players for advice. If you suddenly find yourself in command mode press "Resign" to leave again and next time make sure you hit the "Spawn" and not "Command" button.
  • Speak to your team via the 'Y' key, only use the 'T' key if everyone should be able to read what you said.
  • Please Do Not Flood, i.e. don't repeat the same message over and over, else a referee will mute you eventually, same goes for Votespamming.
  • A feedbackforum for this server is at http://server.groentjuh.eu/ - to suggest more Tips for example Smile
  • Get the sep patch! If u dont have it yet, download it at http://www.notforidiots.com/sep/ If u cannot join a team, you problably need to update to the latest sep.
  • You can change your nickname in the options. You can also do that with the /name command. Try it and type “/name typenewnamehere” in the chatbox.
  • Take a look in the options screen in Savage. You might find some usefull options in there!

Tips added 10 dec 2006:

  • You can get money by killing other player, damaging enemy building, reviving friendly players with a chaplain or shaman and by killing NPCs (those monkeys, and weird birds).
  • Shamans and chaplain are units, which can heal friendly players. They can only attack enemy players using their staff (slot 1) or spirit hammer (slot 1).
  • The beam weapon of the chaplain heals friendly players, buildings and siege units and does NOT damage enemy players.
  • The beam weapon of the shaman protects friendly players, buildings and siege units and does NOT damage enemy players. Try to shield a behemoth with it! You’ll see that he can take a lot more damage when you shield him!
  • The pots of the chaplain will heal friendly players, who get hit by that potion. You can also heal yourself with it!
  • Shield towers protect nearby human buildings. If you are a beast you should destroy shield towers first. That’ll make destroying other buildings much easier. If you are a human you should protect shield towers with your life!
  • Shock towers stop a lot of the beast weapons but not all of them! If you attack it with melee as emeny you’ll get hit by it! If you want to take it down, use sacrifice or a summoner
  • Mortar towers and guard towers attack nearby enemy units. As beast you cannot be damaged by mortar towers if you have activated a storm shield!
  • Healing spires heal nearby beast buildings. If you’re a human, it’s recommended to destroy those first. You can still destroy beast building with those nearby, but it’ll take longer.
  • Wind spires blow human projectiles away, but it doesn’t blow away siege projectiles and the ‘projectiles’ of the magnetic weapons
  • Fire spires and spires attack nearby enemy units. As human you can ask your commander for a shield buff if you want to get near it!
  • A buff is a power up, which can be given to player, by the commander. Both races have 3 resources for buffs. Your commander can only give you a buff if he has enough resources for them.
  • Beasts have 2 kinds of buffs. Heal will fully heal you instantly. Fire shield makes flames around you which damage nearby enemies! The last resource is used to make gates. They make beast teleport from the first gate to the second gate, which can be inside your base!
  • Humans have 3 kinds of buffs. Electric buff gives your melee weapon more damage. Magnetic/shield buff protects you. You’ll get far less damage with it! The speed buff will make you walk/run 50% faster!
  • Deploy sensors as human. They make you see where the enemy is! They’ll also show you where the gates are!

Edit: "Fixes Harper"
Got more ideas! Tell them!

Right, I can think of two things that you might want to put as a tip. Just ideas and you might have to phrase them better.

First, how to get money. I've heard a few people asking that recently. Attacking buildings, killing npc and enemies etc.

And secondly, what the shield towers do. I don't think that new players understand what it does.

I thought I'd tell you about this, beast should be human. Nice tips!

Edit: Uh, thought I'd tell you about this also, not very important, but still:

Should be "have" if I'm correct.

The three buffs one should read '...You'll TAKE far less damage...'

Beasts have 2 kinds of buffs. Heal will fully heal you instantly and replenish your stamina and mana. Fire shield makes flames around you which damage nearby enemies! The last resource is used to make gates. They make beast teleport from the first gate to the second gate, which can be inside your base!

Deploy sensors as human. They let you see where the enemy is! They’ll also show you where the gates are!
