Map rotation Hey!
Not sure what happened to the map rotations, seems to be a completely random pick from all maps (even deleted ones).
I think the server would benefit from a curated map rotation... Some of the maps are very, very, very bad.

GK is attached to the newerth mapsection. Mapadmins decide what is on the server and what is not. The maprotation is indeed random of all maps on the server.
G&G is not attached to the newerth mapsection. Some people have access to commands that add/remove maps from G&G. G&G also has commands to set maprotation settings (min player/perfectnr player/max players/chance the rotation picks this map) and the maprotation actually works there.

As you practically own the GK server don't you have some sort of control over the map admins?

I did the map cleanse way back, and I've deleted a bunch of maps as well as from Django's box, but those maps keep coming up.
So I don't know how to solve it from the map admin perspective
The settings on GG probably will be misleading since not many maps have min/may/prefered specified.

DJ owns the kingdom server, groentjuh administrates it.
Anyhow, switching DJ's server to use a restricted map rotation and such would be a mistake. Kingdom and my server have always had "all maps" (as decided by map admins) and should continue to do so.
A rotation could possibly be put in place but I don't see the use. Yes, sometimes bad maps get loaded, but we just nextmap them.

How would you know if you don't try it?

A decent rotation would be nice to see to in place. I don't play anymore because the maps were constantly the same. When I casually check Newerth, the same maps are once again being played, so I don't bother coming online. It imo is stagnating the fun.

While that may be true, a rotation won't help so much... the current active players vote these (repetitive/bad) maps directly more than by nextmap. So i'm afraid even with a good rotation, the same maps will be voted.
It is important to note the difference between a rotation and what is available too:
- All maps should be available, no change here, newerth-sync like US
- Rotation could be good on top of this (currently random)
Also remember you would need someone willing to maintain it. A rotation a month old will be as repetitive as 'random', if not more.

Well then the nextmap is bad, and the one after that is also bad, and the one after that...
A good nextmap rotation would be ideal, and let people call votes for the other maps they want to play.
And I dont understand what you say before about your server and GK have all maps decided by "the map admins", you mean some sort of server-specific map admins, or the newerth map admins? Because I can "delete" maps on newerth and they continue to be nextmapped.
And also, with a BAD nextmap rotation, the same old maps do get played. A bad map is loaded? /callvote world xr_kinixxx, etc etc etc.
ALL maps on rotation seems good, but the effect is opposite, since they are so BAD, fewer maps actually get played since people start calling maps they can remember the names of (which are not != the number of good maps there are).

DJ and I have our servers setup to use the maps listed on newerth, any which are marked as "Online".
If some deleted maps remain available, it probably just takes some time to re-synchronise.
See my most recent post above yours too for further suggestions/notes (similar to the points you just made).

Sounds like you need some decent djinghis maps to boot.

For GK the newerth map admins are controlling which maps are on the server and those map admins that are skillfull with the mapsection will know they have to controller GK using:
Servers -> Django's London Box -> Online
