 Commanders using siege units.
Can Commanders use them?

The age old question.

S2games didn't originally design it to be forbidden. Just saying.

Considering you can use any unit in Savage resurrection, a recent rendition of savage - like Dingfire states you can assume that s2games never wanted it forbidden.

Well, they were also totally for 100% freedom of speech. And here we are, with a chat filter. And other rules concerning things that were not designed to be prevented/forbidden.

Have you got source to this claim?

Who do you think imposed chat filters and strange counterintuitive anti-game mechanic rules? not S2Games... I'm not sure where you're going with this Marb.

First, you ask to dismiss a rule about siege spawning (+).
Then, you join Ding's argument of intended game mechanics to support your proposition (+).
After, I counter saying that there are many rules against intended game mechanics (-).
Finally, you just agreed that intended game mechanics isn't a valid argument to support your proposition.

With regard to your request to verify my claim: it would have been technically possible include a profanity chat filter in the first versions of Savage. Since it wasn't included, freedom of speech was technically 100% supported Wink.

Your first comment "never found this questionable" is odd, as it's a rule created by Europeans and only for European servers that is continually in dispute, continually broken and continually debated in-game. So it's odd that you don't find this contentious or questionable.

And now you are claiming that simply because something was not implemented in savage by the original creators that it means they never intended it. This is not a source - it's a weak presumption - as you seem to have forgotten that savage was never finished in any real sense of the word and was in a very patchy state at best. Also let's not call chat "game mechanics" because... well it's simply not.

I was never dismissing a rule that didn't exist - certainly for the majority of my personal savage time with Australian and US servers. The rule may be something you are use to and in fact for that reason simply can't fathom savage without it, but you also forget I offered a much more graceful solution with re-enter timmers.

I don't really understand your other points, but if you disagree I can respect that, but if you feel you need to state why and that "why" is incorrect, that respect diminishes. If you want referee running around constantly joining spec to babysit the server form players (commander) using a unit that's is 1 click away, and a whole team crying when that commander gets away with it, then that's what you shall receive. The old issues with comms using siege will continue and when referees are not there, you can best your bottom euro that commanders will do it.

FYI, "Never found this questionable" means that commanders should NOT be allowed to use siege's. I already strongly advised to find a technical solution for this issue in another discussions in which you were also involved. The general consensus was agreement, with a someone pointing out that this could lead to problems during early morning games of 2 vs 2 players.

People are complaining about siege spawning of regular field players since years. They are sometimes there and kill a demo run. Can't you imagine what will happen when commanders will be allowed to do this? A behemoth will be there every time.

But of course, Euro's.. Smile Where are they now, these non-euro's that liked their official siege spawning?

3 weeks and no refs or rules on community and comms spawning siege all the time, not too many complaints either - does that say something or is it fake news?

Agree, people is not abusing siegespawning, at least not more than what was usual in other servers with refs.
